The Hitchhiking Game is very abstract. It is a very realistic emotional story, but it can also be disturbing. In the book, she takes a metamorphosis. Her transformation though is not one of form but of emotion. She had become someone that she was normally not known for and thus took an immense toll. The man had done it to himself. He could only blame himself for pushing her away. In fact, he stood by as her transformation took place. He let it happen and did nothing to make it better or change it. Thus ruining and tearing their relationship from the state that it was before.
